In order to remember an old time or only for fun, I'm going to explain you how to install Windows 3.1 under your actual operating system. I'm going to use "computer commands", so that, we will review this lesson we saw in class.
STEPS:
1.- Download DOSBox (www.dosbox.org). It's a little virtual machine, that simulates a X86 architecture; it's especially designed for people who still play with old games (for example me ;-) haha ).Then, install it.
2.- Secondly, download a win 3.x (this tutorial have been made with Windows 3.1) version. You can go, for example, to www.selvacamaleon.net, go to "Utilidades"->"Sistemas Operativos" and download Win 3.1 from this page.
3.-Unzip/Unrar the file in a folder in your hard disk (important: all the files that contain the archive in the same folder).
4.- Execute DOSBox and type "mount c x:", where "x:" is the logical unit of your hard disk where you have put the files (of Win 3.1). This command creates a fictitious hd, in which you can operate as it was a real one.
5.-Type now "c:" (the disk you've mounted is known now as "c:", the root).
6.-Type "instalar" and follow the steps. The installation will create a folder named "WINDOWS".
7.- In order to execute windows, simply type win (after accessing to the windows folder, that is, "cd windows").
That's all, it wasn't very difficult, wasn't it?.
Finally, I would like that you express your opinion about the Best OS for you. So please, click on the survey that you have at your right and post your comments!!
